Here are my preliminary boost/power-up feature ideas/designs. Feel free to discuss, critique and add suggestions.
Possible boosts
Stop! (stops the ball in its tracks)
Speed boost (gives the ball a boost of speed in its current direction)
Coins magnet (ball attracts nearby coins)
Mulligan (player can redo their shot, all things collected on the shot remain collected)
Do-over (player can scrap their turn and have another go from the beginning)
Pitching wedge (player can chip the ball over things)
Floaty (ball won’t sink in water)
Off-road (ball unaffected by sand)
Big Hole (makes the hole 50% bigger)
Boost Design 1
Allow player to activate up to 3 boosts at the start of a match
Boosts cost coins to activate
Better boost cost more
Coins collected on courses are added to your piggy bank
Coins can be purchased from the store
Boost Power Meter (only if required for balance)
Boosts may need some other mechanism to balance them.
A meter that is consumed when using a boost.
Boost power can be collected on the course in the form of collectibles like the purple gem
Different boosts consume different amounts of boost power

All Boosts are always available.
Activating boosts costs coins
Coins collected on courses are added to your piggy bank
Coins can be purchased from the store
Boost Design 3:
Boosts cost 'power' to activate.
Different boosts cost varying amounts of power.
Power could generate for free each hole or each shot.
Extra power can be collected on mini golf courses while you play.
The player can risk a harder shot to collect power and use it later for a boost.
